POP again

I survived the busy weekend and managed not to sneeze during the (recorded) concert.  This cold is really dragging on!  Here are some more cards featuring the Palette O Prints paper (May special).  I made these to send my downline so they could have a sample.  And while I was at it, I made some more for my stamp club members.  The flower print goes perfectly with the Reason to Smile Hostess set!

Another POP card

My MOMS group presentation on scrapbooking yesterday went well.  My TOP 10 Scrapbooking tips are posted here

I have a busy weekend taking my son to the  Jr. Phil. rehearsal and concert at Edinboro University.  But here’s a quick card I did this week with the new Palette O Prints paper.   Stamp Sets:  Big Blooms, Warm Words Cardstock: Kraft, Artichoke  Accessories: Sweet Shop Ribbon, Coluzzle

Quick Strips Tutorial

I had a bunch of leftover little scraps of the new Palette o Prints designer paper and wanted to put them to use.  So here is the project I came up with:

quick-strips-and-bf-005.jpg

1.  Place a ruler at the top of where you want your border of strips.  Run a line of SNAIL (monoadhesive) just below the ruler and at the very bottom of the page.  Start lining up your scraps in a pleasing pattern.  Let them hang off the bottom and the last edge.

2.  Using your personal paper cutter, trim the bottom and side.

Oh boy, some more scraps for a tiny border!

3.  Add a strip of ribbon along the top edge of the strips.

The final card.  Stamps:  Warm Wishes and Everday Flexible Phrases - both on sale this month!  Instructions for the butterfly are below.

Ribbon Butterfly

I think that these butterflies made with the SU Ribbon Originals were first introduced at an SU Regional training seminar last fall.  Since the Sweet Shop ribbons are a perfect match for the new Palette o Prints designer paper, this was a perfect time to give one a try!

quick-strips-and-bf-002.jpg

1.  Cut 2 inch pieces of 2 of the ribbons for wings and a 5 inch piece for the body.

2. Make each wing by picking up a glue dot in the center of the ribbon while scrunching it together.

3. Tie a knot around the body, placing the knot at the top.

4.  Trim ribbons if needed.

And here is the final card.  Stamp set: Wonderful Words.

Card Ideas using Strips

Here’s some more ideas using strips or panels of cardstock for backgrounds.  These 2 cards were made by my mother.

Treat Pouch tutorial

The instructions for this treat pouch are from an old issue of our demonstrator magazine.  Someone on SCS suggested that it would be a good project to showcase the new double-sided papers in the Palette-O-Prints (May special).  Since the papers in this sample pack are 6×6, I have scaled back from the original 8×8 pattern.

1.  Fold your 6×6 sheet in half to make a triangle.

pouch2.jpg

2. With the fold at the bottom, measure up 2 1/2 inches and place a mark on both sides.

pouch3.jpg

3.  Fold up one corner until it is just BELOW the mark and the tip is ALMOST to the edge of the paper.  (The photo is not quite in perspective).  Repeat with the other corner.

4.  Fold the top corner down, over the other 2 flaps.  If you follow the written instructions on step 3, the top flap will line up perfectly (unlike the photo).  Adhere all 3 flaps with a little piece of sticky strip.

I hope my daugher doesn’t mind that I scrounged through her Easter candy stash for a suitable treat to put in the pouch!

Palette-O-Prints

My preorder of the Palette-O-Prints (May Special) came today.   Oh what fun creativity is ahead!  I love the monochromatic look and the pretty patterns of the double-sided paper.  Notice how they match the colors of the Sweet Shop Ribbons.

Here is my first creation - using the Rose Red and Certainly Celery colors.  THis is for the SCS technique challenge this week - using Levi tabs.  I use them all the time, but never thought to call them that!  My tab was made with the round tab punch and Everyday Flexible Phrases.  The flower is from Polka Dots and Paisleys.

Page for MOMS

It’s hard to find stampin’ time, now that the weather is finally nice!  I did have to put together a make and take for a demonstration on scrapbooking for my MOMS group this week.  I found inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! Workshop Wizard for demonstrators.  I want everyone to try out our cool punches and the jumbo wheel.  Polka Dots and Paisleys is such a versitile set - I find myself using it frequently.  Colors are Cool Caribbean, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron.

Back Up

SCS was down for a few hours this morning (torture!) and so was my blog.  But everything is fine now.  I am testing this blog service for SCS, so it is run through their server.  I spent my stamping time yesterday designing a stamp camp project for a convention swap.  It turned out really cool - so I sent one off to SU for a contest entry too!  Since I can’t show you a picture yet, I’ll grab one out an old one that you haven’t seen yet.

Convention (Denver in July) information was posted this week for demos.  So my roommates and I (hi Edie and Jen)  have been planning up a storm.  What to wear to the pajama stamp-a-rama?  What hotel to stay at - go for cheap, close or free breakfast?  WHat swaps to sign up for?  Where and when is the SCS dinner?  Who else is going?  How many suitcases do we need to carry our swaps?  The list goes on and on.

And to further the excitement, the list of new IN COLORS was released to the demos who earned (and are on) their cruise this week!   Speculation is abounding on the demo side of SCS as people are posting photos of fruits to see what the new colors will look like.   Here are the names: Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranite, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, River Rock, Blue Bayou - available July 1.  They sound yummy.

Here is my card for today.  Again - Both way blossoms stamp set.  A tag with organdy ribbon and Expressive Flexible Phrases.

We are having (finally) a beautiful weekend.  Now, I need to get the lawn mowed for the first time this spring!

Both Way Blossoms

ap17-scalloped-circle.jpg

This set is my favorite of all the hostess sets.  I will be sad to see it gone when the new catalog comes out in July 1.  But I have seen all the new hostess sets and they are very cool too!  One of the new Level 3 sets even comes with 2 jumbo wheels!

This card was made with a faux scallop.  I have seen this several places on SCS.  I just used the coluzzle on Petals and Paisleys paper and cut circle number 3 and 6 from the center.  I used the slit punch (entering from the center) to make the scallops.  I used circle 5 to make the So Saffron Circle.  You could also make scallops by adhering small punched out circles to the back of the large circle.  The white gel pen and Certainly Celery marker were used to color the flowers.  The sentiment is from Warm Wishes (April Special ).
