Busy Days

square-cards.jpgIt’s busy days around my place - visiting family, cleaning and sorting for the big garage sale, and of course devouring the new catalog!  Here’s a couple cards I made a while back with a new stamp set - Double-line Doodles.

Trading Cards

Trading cards are such fun to make.  Here are a few that I worked on this week using the new stamp sets.   We are getting ready for tomorrow’s big neighborhood garage sale so I haven’t had much time to stamp.  I think these will be great for convention.

Baroque Motifs

This new stamp set is a real winner.  I love how this card looks with the Almost Amethyst swirls and white embossed flowers.  A bit of white narrow organdy ribbon sets the tone for the  simple but elegant project.   I’m thinking of using this card as a swap for the SCS dinner at Convention.  Do you think I can emboss 50 cards at this time of year without melting myself?

Today’s Tip - One Layer Flowers

Tired of cutting out petals?  Then this quick and easy technique is for you.

1.  Punch a 3/4 inch circle from a sticky note.

2.  Place circle in the center of a 4 inch square of Whisper White cardstock.

3.  Stamp 7 outline petals from Pick a Petal around the circle.  If you mount the point of the petal right to the edge of your block, it is easy to stamp it right in the center of the circle.  You may have to play with this a bit to get the spacing right, but then you can crank them out really quick.

4.  Remove the mask and stamp the outline circle in its place.

5.  To add color, get out your larger aqua painter and just pull ink from the outlines into the center of the flower and each petal.

Stamp set is Pick a Petal - coming in July.  The finished card uses Not Quite Navy and Cameo Coral Ink.  Cardstock is Not Quite Navy, Blue Bayou, Basic Black and Groovy Guava.  Brads are from the Earth Elements.  Sentiment is from Hugs & Wishes- coming in July.

Pick a Petal

I’m finding this set a little difficult to work with.  The build a flower idea is great, but I’m not sure if I like my first  cards.  I did find some fun things to play with:

1. The flower centers make a nice background.

2. You can punch out a 1 1/4 or 3/4 inch circle to use as a center as well.

3.  Little Pieces and Big Pieces make a nice center too.

4.  Stamp the open petal on designer paper - cool!

5.  Flip alternate petals over to the other side - cool again!

6.  Add a rhinstone brad - cool to the nth degree!

7.  Other ideas to try: make ladybugs, dragonflies, etc.

I used Purely Pomegranate cardstock and Rose Red, Not Quite Navy Ink.

New Stuff

Somehow the Stamping top 50 lost my website, so I am back up in the 400’s.  But it should only take me a few months to get back to where I was before - so please keep visiting!  I got my new sets all mounted and had a few minutes to play.  I ordered an assortment pack of the new In Colors, but none of the ink pads yet.  So I tried to come up with coordinating combos for the new cardstock using my current ink pads.

Blue Bayou - Not Quite Navy (is a darker shade)

Wild Wasabi - Garden Green (is a darker shade)

Groovy Guava - Cameo Coral (not bad!) Carriejoe says that Really Rust makes a nice 2nd step for the ink color (darker)

Purely Pomegranate - Rose Red (ok match, a lighter shade)

Soft Sky - no good match, You could use Bashful Blue in a pinch,  Carriejoe says that Bordering Blue makes a good 2nd step match for the ink color.  Or go a shade darker with Blue Bayou.

River Rock - no good match, you could use Certainly Celery or Sahara Sand.   Old Olive and Close to Cocoa were other suggestions on SCS.

Here’s my first card, using the In color CS, and 3 of my close matches of ink, and of course a new rhinestone brad for  some sparkle!  Stamp set is the new Baroque Motifs.

All About Occasions

Here’s a quick thank you note that I designed for my daughter to use for graduation gifts.  The wheel is from the new All About Occasions Level 3 hostess set - I cut out part of the image.  The graduation cap is from the new Year after Year set.

Can you see me?

My blog was down for a few days, but I’m back up now.  I will have to repost some photos that were lost.  I’ve been busy the last few days with my graduate - tonight was Baccalaureate, tomorrow is graduation at the Civic Center.  It’s a class of 568 - so it could be a very long evening!

My preorder finally came, but I don’t have time to work on anything right now.  The new In Colors are even more yummy in person.  I love the River Rock - it changes colors depending on what it is near.  I was pretty good - I only got the 6 sets that we got the extra discount with, the set of assorted cardstock and 2 pkgs of the rhinestone brads (very cool).  I did splurge and get the new Level 3 hostess set with the wheels, which I love.  As you can see, I have lots of creative fun ahead!

In our June demonstrator magazine, there are even more sneak peaks of new products - a scallop punch, fabric flowers, pretties kit, textured cardstock in new Scrappin’ Kits, new stitched ribbons, wide grograin ribbon, new coordinating stamp sets, papers and accessories…..WOW - stay tuned!

All I have seen

Here is another favorite retiring set - All I have seen.  Here I show 2 cards with the same quick and easy layout.  The first features the “dirty stamping” technique where you ink up with a lighter color, then add a darker color with marker before stamping.  The second features gold heat embossing and the retiring All Year Cheer I set.
