Angel Policy Update

Stampin’ Up! Angel Policy Special– Starting November 15, there will be a change in the SU angel policy.  It will now be permissible to sell your handcrafted items using Stampin’ Up! stamps and designer papers in fixed retail locations and on eBay.  You are still required to have the SU copyright stamped on the items.  In celebration of the new angel policy, I am discounting any of the appropriate copyright stamp sets (located on p. 152-3, 162) by 10% (15% for current club members) for the month of November.

Class By Mail - November

Here are the projects for my latest Class By Mail.  The card kit is based on the free download that Stampin’ Up! provided during their banner ad campaign.  They used the Glorious Garlands Stamp set (page 33).  I used the Perfect Presentations stamp set (Level 2 hostess) for my samples below.

The kit contains complete instructions and all the precut cardstock and ribbon to make 2 each of the 4 cards with envelopes  (total of 8 cards).  The square cards will use regular invitation sized envelopes to avoid the additional postage charged for square envelopes.

Cost for the kit is $10.  There is a $2 discount for my current club members.  Kits must be preordered by November 20.  Expect about 12-14 days for delivery.  You may also wish to order the Glorious Garlands stamp set, Real Red, Bashful Blue and Old Olive inkpads as well as the 3/4″ circle punch.

Pumpkin Weekend

We had an absolutely gorgeous weekend - still shorts and sandles weather.  It’s hard to believe that just over a year ago was a big blizzard near us in Buffalo.  We visited Port Farms  yesterday and made our way through the corn maze.  It was nice to have my daughter home from college for a few days.  And my son enjoyed the weekend after 2 rehearsals and a double-header concert for Jr. Phil.

Here is a cute card with the Apple Cider designer paper (on sale in November).  I stamped the pumpkin in Wild Wasabi  on the vanilla CS and in Chocolate Chip on the designer paper.  Cut out the dp and you have a patterned pumpkin!  And of course you need the coordinating Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon.

Starburst Tips

I had to try the gorgeous starbursts that everyone is making on splitcoaststampers.  They were invented by shadow mill using the 2 SU tag punches - Instructions here

Here are some tips that I hope will be helpful.  You need to glue down the little tag frames using 2-way glue.  Since my glue was a little old and not sticking well, I decided to spray adhesive the whole front and then attach to another piece of cardstock (Night of Navy) and trim.  Now there is no chance of my starburst coming apart.  Since I used vellum for the petals, the back of the starburst still looks great.  Another tip - try using some patterned vellum.  I had one piece left from when SU used to carry it.  I’m not sure if you will be able to see it in the photo, but it looks really nice.  To make your own patterned vellum, use a background stamp or jumbo wheel and stamp in white craft or stazOn ink.  Let dry if you used craft ink.  For the center of my starburst I used the snow blossom punch and an ice rhinestone brad.  For even more texture I added a background of embossed cuttlebug snowflakes and some grosgrain ribbon.starburst.jpg

One Scrappin’ Kit - One Hour!

I had a lofty goal today - to take the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin’ Kit and see what I could make in one hour!  Obviously, this project did not take very long to complete, plus I had a lot to show for my one hour of work.  I even had time to take a few photos along the way!

winter-bright-kit-001.jpg

Step 1:  I planned my attack.  This kit contains 8 pieces of textured cardstock, 6 sheets of 2 sided designer paper and 6 sheets of self-adhesive diecuts.  I wanted to complete my 6 by 6 red album (20 pages) and also make some cards.  I decided that the quickest way would be to make 20 - 6″ by 3″ cards which would also conveniently fit in one package of small open-end envelopes.

 winter-bright-kit-002.jpg

Step 2:  Cut all the cardstock and paper to 6×6″.  This was quick with my heavy duty Carl Cutter.  I then took 16 of my 6×6 designer sheets and cut them again at 3″, 2″ and 1″.  (This left 8 designer sheets at 6×6 for my cards/pages.)

 winter-bright-kit-004.jpg

Step 3.  I folded half of the 6×6 pieces to become cards.  I used the bone folder since it is really easy to fold the textured CS- it has no play if you start to fold against the grain.  You could also score first if you have more time.

 winter-bright-kit-005.jpg

Step 4.  I started adding my 1,2 or 3 inch pieces of designer paper to each card.  I also decided at this point to save some time and cut the 2 sheets of die-cut borders in half.  I added some of these borders next to the designer paper.  And then I threw on some of the die-cuts sentiments and designs.

Here are the finished cards.  Obviously, I could add some stamped greetings, ribbon or more die-cuts, but the clock was still ticking!

winter-bright-kit-008-copy.jpg

winter-bright-kit-003.jpg

Step 4:  On to my pages!  I quickly laid out my 20 pages and added the strips of designer paper just like with the cards.  Again, I added some of the die-cut border strips and some of the die-cut shapes and letters.

 winter-bright-kit-006-copy.jpg

It was so much fun tossing on those die-cuts, that I wanted to keep on going, but my time was up.  Here are the pages.  I can always add some more “stuff” after the photos are on.  Now do I keep the book for me, or use it as a Christmas gift!

And here’s what is left for adding later, or for future projects.

winter-bright-kit-007.jpg

Step 5:  Now you try this project too!  Make 20 Christmas cards plus a fun Christmas album to gift or to use for your holiday photos  - all in about an hour (and for about $50).  As an incentive, I am offering the following special deal:  purchase the 6×6 linen album (19.95) and the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin’ Kit ($19.95) and I will take 50% off of your package of 20 small open-end envelopes (a savings of $3.75).  I can take credit cards or paypal.  Order are delivered to your home by UPS in about 7 business days.  Mention my blog to get this special.

wcm-day-010-copy.jpg

Here’s another card that I designed for World Card-Making Day that didn’t make the cut.  Stamp set is Stem Silhouettes and colors are Basic Grey and Real Red.  I love the sponge dauber flowers and the basic grey taffeta ribbon!
