Big Shot Texturz Plates and SAB

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Here are another 2 cards featuring the Texturz Plates and FREE SAB stamp sets found at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net

The first one features a textured scallop frame.  This die is new for SU this year.   The second card used the other technique for making the Texturz patterns really POP.  I used a piece of DSP (the FREE paper from SAB) and ran it through the Big Shot.  I had to use a CS shim AND spritz the paper with water to get the dot pattern to appear.  Then I took my sanding block and sanded the piece.  Now you can really see the dots where the white core of the paper shows through.

Here are another 2 cards.

The first card is textured with the Texturz plate.  On top is Whisper White panel that was folded before running through the Big Shot with the Top Note die.  The second card features some textured circles that were cut out using the new circle scissor plus before running through the Big Shot.

Big Shot Texturz Plates and SAB

For the next few days I will be featuring some different techniques using the Texturz plates with my FREE SAB sets.  THis is a great time to order your Big Shot because you will get 2 free stamp sets by ordering the machine, and more if you order some plates and dies.  Check out the online catalog at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net

These 2 cards use the free Polka Dot Punches and Congrats stamp sets.  I covered the Texturz plate with ink  (just rub the inkpad over the plate) before running it through the Big Shot.  These 2 examples used Certainly Celery Ink on Whisper White paper.  You can see how the embossed dots really pop out  It ends up a little blotchy on white - so I think using colored cardstock looks better for a deep tone on tone look.  Later this week I’ll show you a different way to make the texture really pop.

Quick Card

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Here’s a quick card before I head into a busy weekend. This card uses the new Playful Petals and Really Retro Stamp sets and  the new Tea Party Designer Series Paper.  You could easily do the same layout with the SAB set Polka Dot PUnches and the SAB Delicate Dots DSP.

Stampin’ Up! Boxes

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

This is my favorite of the Bigz XL dies.  It is so easy to assemble - it is all one piece and requires only one small piece of sticky strip.  All the other flaps just fold together.

This first box uses your free ribbon, designer paper and free Yummy and Polka Dot Punches stamp sets (order at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net).  One item free for each $50 order.   You will get 2 free items for ordering the Big Shot, 1 for the die and cutting pads.  Plus hostess benefits!  Sale-a-Bration is the best time to order your big ticket items because of all the freebies.

Notice how the new flower brads (on tag) match the flower from the Polka Dot Punches set!  Both the oval from the box and the tag were cut with the large oval punch - don’t forget to add that to your list!  I just inserted a panel of clear acetate to cover the opening.

This next box would make a beautiful wedding favor or small gift.  I embossed Basic Grey CS using Versamark, black EP and the new Symphony wheel.  The tag is from the new Lots of Tags die set and stamp is from the Yummy set - stamped with markers and clear embossed.  Ribbon is our white taffeta which is so lovely to work with.

Sale-A-Bration Ideas

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Here are a few ideas for your FREE Sale-a-Bration sets.  The mini-catalog link and ordering information is to the right.

The Yummy set coordinates with the SU exclusive Top Note die for the Big Shot.  The yummy sentiment can be trimmed like it is in the minicatalog, or punched out with any of the larger SU punches (here the SU 1 3/4″ circle).  Thanks David for letting me borrow your candy bar for the picture!  I used the Contempo Alphabet to finish up the treat for Caitlin’s college care package.

The Polka Dot Punches set coordinates with several of the SU punches.  This set is going to be lots of fun to use.  Here are just a couple of examples.  Thanks Kathy for designing the first card as a make and take at our last Erie Area demo meeting.  For the second card I added some Silver Hodgepodge Hardware to all the centers.  The sentiment is from the new Really Retro set.
