Framed Art

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

This framed picture took less time to make than one of my cards!  I took a sheet of Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper and a die cut from the new Butterflies die for the Big Shot (SU exclusive) for inside the frame.  One the outside I put one of our new vinyl wall art sayings (life).  These Decor Elements, the Big Shot die and the designer paper can all be purchased at my website www.kwstamps.stampinup.net  In May, all designer paper and textured paper will be Buy 3, get one free!

Wedding Card

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Made for the Sassy Peacock Ladies Boutique (W 12th St., Erie PA),  does it look familiar? I posted a similar card earlier and just changed out the sentiments to the new Very Versatile set.   April is a great time to purchase from the Occasions minicatalog because of the current special (details at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net) You could also change out the paper to Walk in the Park and the ribbon to White Satin and you would have enough to get a $10 or less item from p. 208 for free!  The birds are for the Big Shot and are an exclusive die for Stampin’ Up!

Big Shot Matchbox die

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I promised earlier some more matchbox samples.  Here is one I designed myself using the Parisian Breeze Designer Paper.  It is a heavier cardstock weight which is perfect for this project.  One side of each pattern is flowered - perfect for Mother’s Day projects, and the other side is striped or dotted - for more masculine projects.  You can purchase the Matchbox die this month to take advantage of the April special, and the paper next month to catch the May special - buy 3 get one free for all designer series paper and textured cardstock.  Contact me or order at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net

The stamp set I used is Puns from the Past and I included a little sewing kit in the box.  Don’t forget to check out the linen thread and Baja Breeze Corduroy button to complete the theme!

Added:  I just found a link to 100 uses for the matchbox die:

Soft Summer

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The new Soft Summer stamp set is absolutely gorgeous.  For this card, I used a technique called Gradation Sensation from one of our recent demonstrator magazines.  I simply colored on the stamps with my lighter shades of Stampin’ Write marker, then added the darker color and blended with sponge daubers.  The circle is cut with our new Circle Scissor Plus.  There is only one more week to get a free item with each $40 order from the Occasions minicatalog.  See details at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Success Magazine

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Stampin’ Success Magazine is the name of the monthly demonstrator magazine that we receive in the mail.  I was happy to pull out the free set that I got at convention (Good Friends) to copy these 2 cards from the magazine.  I did add one of the new black grommets to the flower center with some Tombow glue and red glitter.  I also changed out the greeting on the 2nd card and used the Very Versatile set from the mini.  Details about becoming a demonstrator and/or purchasing products are at www.kwstamps.stampinup.net

Thinking ahead to Father’s Day

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

***REMEMBER TO RSVP FOR TOMORROW’s CLASS!

These 2 new sets are wonderful for those masculine cards.  This first one I sent for my father’s birthday last month.  I love how clean and simple it is.  I used some of the dotted vellums DSP from Taste of Textiles.

This next card uses the Sense of Time set and a large grommet.  This set will be beautiful for memory pages too.  BOth cards feature tearing, which is a simple technique, but adds a lot of texture.

Beautiful Vellum

Friday, April 10th, 2009

I love these cards that I modified from Patty Bennett’s design.  They are so quick and simple to make, yet so elegant.  They look beautiful in Soft Subtles colors with the vellum cardstock overlay and the Manhattan flower textured impressions die (114517 $7.95) and Satin Ribbon.   In the first 2 cards I used sentiments from Elegant Cheer.  For the last card I used a new Occasions Minicatalog set to make the wedding card.

*****  NOTE:  I just found out that Andrea Walford is offering a 50% discount on her class planners until Tuesday.  The coupon code is easter and you can buy them here  - click on Go Shopping.  You can see the one that I am offering later this month below in my March 18th post.

Tip 1- Trim around the vellum image.  Attach the vellum with Snail under where the ribbon will run.

Tip 2 - Fold in the prongs of a large white grommet.  Slide both ends of your bow into the center and pull the knot through to the front.  No adhesive needed - the bow hold the grommet in place!

Tip 3 - Use your color coach to find the correct darker shade for stamping your sentiment.  These “Dynamic Duos” are listed on the center of the Color Coach.

Tip 4 - If you purchase the Very Versatile Stamp Set ($25.95) , The White Satin Ribbon ($8.95) and the Basic Large Grommets ($6.95) from the Occasions Minicatalog, you will have just the right amount to earn a free item from p. 208 in the big Catalog.  See my April 2nd post for details.

Matchbox die tutorial

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Here is a quick look at how to assemble the matchbox from the new die in the Occasions minicatalog.  Again, I love this box (and the box die #2) because you only need one piece of adhesive for the whole box!

1.  Place separate pieces of cardstock or other paper over the bottom and top of the box when you use the die.  In this case I used Baja Breeze for the bottom and Window Sheet (Occasions minicatalog) for the sleeve.

2.   Using the bone folder, fold on all the creases.  The tiny little creases on the ends you will fold in the opposite direction - AND only fold these at a 90 degree angle - you want them to stick out because this is what holds the box together without adhesive.

3.  Fold the long sides in first.  Then fold in the ends.  Those tiny flaps should hold the other sides in.  See photo.

4. Fold your sleeve around the box and adhere the flaps together.  I used 2 glue dots here.  I found that the window sheets didn’t score well for me.  I had to go over them well with my bone folder.  Now that the Extended Crease Pad is available, I wonder if that will help.  I fit in 3 Treasures, but you can also use 4 Nuggets.  I have some other ideas of fillers for these boxes which I will share in future posts.

The tag is made from the oval scallop punch and the Oval All stamp set.  The Baja Breeze backing is part of the matchbox die - it comes with 3 tags!

Boxes Galore

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

These projects feature 2 of the Big Shot dies - Box #2 and the new matchbox die from the Occasions minicatalog.  It’s so fun to find little treats to put in these boxes.  These contain tags (seen through a window sheet window punched with the new scallop oval punch) and Nestle Treasures chocolates.  For the middle purse box, I just centered a top note diecut from Tea Party DSP over the opening of Box #2.  It is glued on the back section.  I added 2 Jumbo Eyelets and some ribbon to the top section.  The front is attached with some velcro.  Note the small grommet and rhinestone brad at the closure.  The box itself is stamped with the Soft Summer Stamp Set.  See the April 2nd post to find out how to get something free when you order these products from the Occasions minicatalog.

More about how to make the matchboxes tomorrow!
